Ruby Ethel Hughes
Ruby Ethel Hughes of Ironton passed away Dec. 31, 2016 in Fredericktown. She was 87.
She was born on June 8, 1929 in Ironton, the daughter of Robert Emmett and Rose Marie (Linson) Marler.
On March 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to John James “Bud” Hughes, who preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1998.
To this union three children were born, Jerry Hughes and wife Lucille of Pilot Knob, James Hughes and wife Alice of Ironton, and Patricia Jaycox, who preceded her in death. Ruby is also survived by her brother, Matthew Marler of Ironton; her sister, Joanne Casteel of Bismarck; son-in-law, Jerry Jaycox of High Ridge; her special friend, Carter Miller of Arcadia; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Marler Jr. and Tony Marler, and her sisters, Dorothy Whited and Nancy Whited.
Ruby was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was a great mother and homemaker. She loved to cook, sing and dance, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Mike Harrison officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Interment was in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church.
