Nina Irene Summers
Nina Irene Summers of Ironton passed away Jan. 11, 2017 in Farmington. She was 88.
She was born Aug. 25, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI., a daughter of the late Thurman Tillman and Mildred Frances Strayhorn Caldwell.
On Feb. 3, 1948, Nina was united in marriage to Willard Lee McCain, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1967.
On June 27, 1980, she married Fay Summers. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2005.
Surviving are seven children, Darlene (Glenn) Ruble of Arcadia, Deshay (Dan) Warden of Lesterville, Willard Lee (Teresa) McCain II of Spokane, WA., Phil (Jayne) Summers of San Marcos, CA, Leslie (Craig) Wickham of Fredonia, KS, John (Leisa) Summers of Indianapolis, IN, and Nancy (Matt) Woodcock of San Antonio, TX; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tillman and Raymond Caldwell; a sister Vierna Hill; and one great-grandchild, Aspen Balee Maize.
Nina was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ironton, and for many years operated a beauty salon, and worked as Activities Director at the Baptist Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 11 a.m. from Cole Family Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Boeving officiating.
Interment will be in the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Home.
