Sam Palmer
Eugene Ernest “Sam” Palmer of Saint Charles died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016. He was 94.
Sam is survived by two sons, Stephen (Laurel), and David (Bonnie) and daughter Nancy; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Sam was married to Helena (Wood) for 45 years.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel A. Palmer; mother, Ollie L. Palmer; two grandsons; and dear companion, Delores “Dodie” Schmidt.
Sam proudly served in the United States Navy on the “USS Plunger” submarine. Sam loved meeting people and keeping friendships alive. He never met a stranger. Sam was a very talented woodworker, including two grandfather clocks and the furniture and “Bless You” trash receptacles for the original Heaven Scent bakery.
Sam graduated from Washington University in 1951 with a BA in Education. He donated his body to the Washington University Medical School. Sam was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
