Mary Abegg
Mary Loraine Abegg of Arcadia went home to her Lord and Savior on Nov. 9, 2016. She was 82.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1934 in Ironton to the late Garrett and Emma Kennedy Smith.
On Sept. 30, 1973, Mary was united in marriage to Herbert Abegg, who survives. Also surviving Mary are three children, Michael Treece of St. Louis, John Treece of St. Louis, and Jill Finley and Husband Don of Overland; a brother, Jim Smith and wife Donna of Taber City, NC; three sisters, Janet Smith of Springfield, Ruth Lowery and husband Bill of Bella Vista, AR, and Doris Hewitt and husband Henry of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Jenny, Amber, Donny, Ashley, Jamie, and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Elise and David; and many other loving friends and family.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Garrett and Emma Smith, and a daughter, Mindy Treece.
Mary was a graduate of Ironton High School, she worked many years as a clerical assistant for Grandpa Pigeon’s, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Ironton, and taught Sunday School classes for several years at the First Baptist Church.
A memorial service was held to celebrate the life of Mary at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 14 at the First Baptist Church of Ironton. Friends of Mary were welcomed for a visiting period beginning at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ironton.
