Geri Watson
Geraldine (Geri) Watson, passed away on Saturday, April 21 in Beaver Creek, Ohio. She was 84.
Geri was born in North Andover, Massachusetts on July 25, 1933. She joined the Air Force in 1952, serving for three years as a teletype operator during the Korean War, where she met her husband, Jim Watson. Geri and Jim lived in New York, Canada, Colorado, and St. Louis before moving to Ironton in 1977, then later to Pilot Knob. Jim passed away in 2000.
Geri thoroughly enjoyed her life in the Valley, especially her work, and her co-workers at the Ozark Regional Library, where she worked fulltime as a library clerk until 2014. She particularly enjoyed her involvement in projects with the children’s librarian.
Geri enjoyed most sports. She loved to watch St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball and golf. She was an avid reader, an accomplished card player and enjoyed playing games of all kinds. Up until two weeks prior to her passing, she was able to enjoy a final outing to the casino with one of her children. Geri cherished time with family.
She is survived by her children, Donna Harmony-Jones, of Dunedin, FL, Mindy Waterman of Fairborn, OH, Kathy Watson of Middletown, OH and David Watson (Theresa) of Brandy Station, VA; grandchildren, Michele Herndon (Matthew), Stacy Waterman, Ben, Nick, Jacob and Philip Watson; great grandchildren, Mitchell, Maxwell and Miranda Herndon and Kyla Barber-Waterman.
Geri’s memory will be held in the hearts of her family, as well as her special friend, Ed Soest, and all whose lives she touched. Geri was a go-getter, generous, fun, had a zest for life and an infectious smile. She will be missed.
