Steve Brunk

Stephen Gregory Brunk of Ironton passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. He was 66.

Steve was born on Feb. 16, 1950 to the late Joseph “Wil” and Edna Catherine Candler Brunk. 

Steve is survived by his four children; Teri Stiles and husband Kennie of Kirkwood, Matthew Brunk of Weiterstadt, Germany, Tabitha Redmond and husband Philip  of Metterich, Germany, and Joseph Brunk of St. Peters; three brothers, Timothy Joel Brunk and wife Diane of Fredericktown, David Allen Brunk and wife Patricia of Jefferson City, and Jay Wil Brunk and wife Jan of St. Genevieve; two sisters, Gwendolyn Catherine McCurdy Goodrich and husband Gerarld of Desloge, and Janice Rae Toler and husband Ed of St. Clair; nine grandchildren, Levi, Ethan, Kelly, Emily, Owen, Andrew, Thomas, Leah, and Lukas; his girlfriend, Donna McAllister; and the mother of his children, Vicki Slater Brunk.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, John “Pat” Patrick Brunk, and Joseph “Gary” Brunk. 

Steve was a 1968 graduate of Arcadia Valley High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. 

In 1973, Steve opened his own business, Brunk’s Auto Body, which he owned and operated in the Valley for 45 years until his passing. 

Steve loved the Arcadia Valley and lived here nearly all of his life. He enjoyed fishing and boating, he had a generous heart, he lent a hand to people in need, and was a good friend to many.  His work was impeccable and it was said of him, “If Steve Brunk can’t fix it, it can’t be fixed!” 

Funeral services will be held on Dec. 1, 2016 beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ironton with a visiting period beginning at 10 a.m. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 5:30 p.m.  until 8 p.m. at the Cole Family Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dayspring Bible Camp.
