Carol Ann Branstetter

Carol Ann Branstetter of Ironton passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 in Cape Girardeau. She was 78.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1939 in Florissant, the daughter of the late Leonard and Florence (Ellebracht) Korte.

On April 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jim Branstetter who survives.  To this union five children were born, Ron Branstetter and wife, Connie of Olney, IL, Dean Branstetter and wife, Pat of Jackson, Joe Branstetter and wife, Melinda of Ironton, Lori Ann Branstetter, who preceded her in death, and Jamie Branstetter and wife, Vicki of Pilot Knob.

Carol is survived by four brothers, Paul Korte of Joplin, Denny Korte of Sedalia, Clyde Korte of Bowling Green, and Mark Korte of MT; three sisters, Alice Wright of Vandalia, Jane Trower of St. Peters, and Laura Vandelicht of Bowling Green; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her grandson, Kristopher Branstetter, and two brothers, Sonny Korte and Chuck Korte.

Carol was a member of Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church.  She was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul and the Ladies Sodality.

During the course of her life, Carol worked at PN Hirsch Company, taught for a short while at a Catholic School, worked for First State Community Bank for 15 years until her retirement in 1999, and she served as the Treasurer for the City of Ironton for many years.

Carol enjoyed working in her flowers, but more than anything else she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren doing whatever was important to them.

A funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church with Father Jim Unterreiner officiating.  Visitation was on Thursday evening from 5 p.m.– 8 p.m. at Bryson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Arcadia Valley Food Pantry.
