Shirley J. Davis

Shirley J. Davis of Des Arc, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Gasconade Nursing Home Manor, Owensville. She was 77.

She was born on May 5, 1940, at Bowling Green to parents Arthur and Freda (Lashley) Davis.

Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Des Arc High School. 

On June 18, 1961, she married Arthur “Art” Davis at Des Arc. To this union eight children were born. 

Shirley was a very dedicated Christian and member of Des Arc First Assembly of God Church for over 30 years. Shirley brought so much to her church including singing. She felt strongly about the fruits of the spirit, especially love. 

She was an active part of her grandchildren’s lives. In spare times, Shirley enjoyed catfish fishing and just being in nature enjoying flowers and hummingbirds. When husband, Art, was living the couple enjoyed digging roots. She had a great sense of humor. Shirley would go out of her way to help anyone. 

Shirley is survived by her children, Arthur Davis and wife Ellen of Des Arc, James Davis of Kentucky, David Davis of Des Arc, Gloria Laun and husband Bill of Pawnee City, NE, Cynthia Heidrick of Owensville, Bonnie Blecha and husband Lenny of Table Rock, NE; grandchildren,  Jacob Davis and wife Cherie, Emily Betsch and husband Cole, John Davis, Giselle DeKoning, Mikala Toedtli and husband Jacob, Travis Heidrick and Devon, Christy Heidrick and Elvis, Brent Davis and wife Erin, April Sutton and husband Robbie, Lennis Blecha III, Quinton Davis; great-grandchildren, Ridge, Beckett, Wesley, Kekoa, Paisley, Sawyer, Emylynn, Wyatt, McKenzie and Breanna; sisters, Gloria Ellen Sorg of Elkhart, IN and Violet Starcer of Clammouth Falls, OR; daughter-in-law, Thresa Davis of Annapolis. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Wesley Davis and Mike Davis; grandchild, Amanda Lee Davis; brother, Lester Giles; sisters, Betty Jackson and Lizzie Morris. 

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 5 p.m., at Des Arc First Assembly of God Church. 

Services followed on Thursday,  April 5, 2018, at 1 p.m., also at the church. 

Pastor Zach Hindman ministered to the family. Jacob Davis, John Davis, Travis Heidrick, Lennis Blecha, Brent Davis and Jake Toedtli served as pallbearers. Robbie Sutton, Elvis Cardoza and Cole Betsch served as honorary pallbearers. 

Burial was at Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com.
