Troy Austin Firebaugh Jr.

Troy Austin Firebaugh Jr., of Van Buren, formerly of Annapolis, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was 70.

Troy was born to parents Troy Austin Firebaugh, Sr., and Ollie Firebaugh nee’ Brewington on Sept. 27, 1946 in Northern Wayne County. 

He grew up in the Annapolis area and graduated from South Iron school. He then moved to St. Louis and worked for St. Louis Terminal Railroad at Union Station. He spent the rest of his life working for several trucking companies, usually moving box trailers across the US. 

On June 28, 1993, he was united in marriage to Peggy Ray at Sullivan, and she survives.

In his spare time, Troy enjoyed squirrel and deer hunting, gardening, movies, participating in political discussions, and his favorite, eating out with Peggy.

He was a Christian of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Timothy Firebaugh and wife, Joan, of St. Clair; one daughter, Jessi Firebaugh of Sullivan; three grandchildren, Nikki Firebaugh, Chase Schneider, Abigail Schneider; two great-grandchildren, Lila Firebaugh, Cole Firebaugh; one brother, Dennis Firebaugh of Van Buren; two sisters, Jane Firebaugh of St. Louis, Elsie Jordan of Gillman City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Chad Firebaugh; two brothers, Robert Firebaugh, Lester Harrison; and one sister, Freida Sitzes. Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont. Services  followed Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Beulah Baptist Church, Brunot. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Pastor Melba Duncan ministered to the family.
