Robert Franklin Francis
Robert Franklin Francis of Ironton passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2016. He was 74.
He was born Jan. 4, 1943 in Ironton, a son of the late John Edward and Alberta Kitchen Francis.
Robert graduated from Ironton High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country with honor until 1964.
After serving his country, Robert was united in marriage to Mary Butler Francis on July 19, 1964. To this union five children were born, Mike (Lisa) Francis of Black, William (Alice) Francis of Riley, KS, Larry (Charla) Francis of Ironton, Barbara (Scott) Russell of Salem, and Daniel (Darla) Francis of Ironton.
In addition to being survived by his children, Robert is also survived by a brother, William Francis of Pacific; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Mary, and his sister, Aletha Ann Jaycox.
Robert worked at the Baptist Home for many years as a physical therapist aide, helping improve the quality of life for many people.
He was a longtime member of the Coon Hunters Club, a part of the University of Missouri Extension Council, and along with Mary, one of the biggest A.V. High School Basketball fans ever.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2016 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Cole Family Funeral Home. The family welcomed visitors on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Interment followed the funeral service at the Graniteville Cemetery.
Pastor Bob Coleman officiated the funeral service.
